Child See, Child Do...

Ever since this blog was created, I spend my days with random thoughts coming into mind on what exactly I could write about: from the abnormal phenomena of vampires to things much, much simpler such as-- how many quarters did the high scorer of Pac Man really spend to become the champion of University of Maine's "e-sport" center? This honestly, so happens to be a sore gesture to the fact that I wish I had enough quarters to hold such a title! Haha!

But I wanted something more concrete, something that any viewer of this blog would walk away wondering, "What does that mean for me?" So here is a video that I came across and it is most definitely blunt. Some images may be hard for you to swallow. Yet, I believe that it is time to realize how our actions influence everyone, including the next generation to come. So please take the time to absorb what these images are saying to you and how you can change this trend we're setting as of now.

Where ARE the Wild Things?

Last Friday, I went to see Where the Wild Things Are and I was overwhelmed with the symbolic gestures of the entire film. Inspired by a short children's book it morphed itself into a novel full of motion and emotion for that matter.

A story of a young boy named Max who runs away from home after much time of being misunderstood. Taking off in a boat he reaches a far and distant place. There he first hears these unknown and mysterious creatures and soon realizes that his life could be in danger. Quickly he declares himself as King with 'special powers' that prevents the 'wild things' to eat him. From there as King, he creates a whole new world alongisde these creatures. Together amongst adventure and howling: they discover through struggles, trials and tests who they really are.

It was raw. Very clear shots of anger, distraught, confusion, hollowness, but most importantly... a glimpse of h---. No I'm actually not referring to the place hell, but HOPE.

It as if hope is either just a fad or some far off fantasy that doesn't or can't exist nowadays. I think the beauty of this film was that it showed the viewer how our minds and hearts react; and how at first there seems to be no clear resolution. But then comes acceptance... and somehow we learn to find our way amidst all pain.

Ha! Here I was looking for the tag line and guess what I found!
"There's one in all of us.
Inside all of us is ... hope.
Inside all of us is ... fear.
Inside all of us is ... adventure.
Inside all of us is a wild thing."

My recommendation is check out this film: although it is rated PG, and the filmmaker's awareness of being kid-friendly, still be aware of its approach in showing these emotions that I mentioned in relation to yours or other children.

This movie had my mind working the entire time I watched and could have countless of interpretations. But what is yours? Where ARE the Wild Things? Do you believe that inside you there is a wild thing?

Let me know what you're wondering! G'night everyone!

First thought...

What is my first thought? Let's see... I don't need to go to the bathroom, but I probably didn't meet the called amount of water to drink today. Most likely the reason why I don't need to go to the bathroom! Alright, no this blog won't always be about bodily fluids or dehydration. What it will be about is... controversial topics, questions that no one ever wants to ask, answers that aren't always easy to hear, and about learning from each other and ourselves. I ask that you engage with me in this blog and see what you too may be wondering...

This mind a.k.a brain finds itself bestowed in our head for a reason. Don't let it take advantage of you when you are just about to fall asleep and then the hamster wheel just keeps turning. But let it be active and occupied with thoughts that don't consist of snuggies (hybrid of blanket and robe)

Oh... and yes, not everything will be dreary drab topics, but silly ones too... need I mention the balloon boy? (really....) The family had a Wife swap appearance? Need I say more?

So here goes the "Garrity Wonders..." Feel free to join me and address your own "wonders"!

G'night and soon I'll be wondering up something new.
